Janet was born at Mulga Bore in 1973. She is the daughter of Sammy Pitjara and Margaret Golder. She comes from a large family of artist she is the Granddaughter of Old Henry Pitjara, Angelinea Ngale and Polly Ngale, Emily and Kudditji Kngwarreye. She now lives in Alice Spings but regularly travles back to her country. She is married to Ronnie Bird whose mother is the famous Ada Bird.

Janet has a blossoming career whose beautiful, bright depictions of her Country are highly sort after.
