Aboriginal art UK

Tribal Art London - VIP tickets 30 September - 5 October 2025

Tribal art London is the UK’s leading fair devoted to ethnographic and tribal art from indigenous communities around the world.

Bay Gallery Home’s owner Alexandra O’Brien sources  artwork from several communities across Central  Australia, Western Desert and the Tiwi Islands. Often travelling down the dusty desert roads to the artists’ Country reconnecting with them while seeking out special works to bring to the UK.

Alongside 40 new paintings from her most recent trip will feature at the show alongside artefacts and artworks collected by music industry mogul David Munns OBE, who worked with superstar bands including The Rolling Stones and U2 during a long and successful career.

Ms O’Brien, who founded her gallery in 2008, described Mr Munns’ collection of carved, wooden sculptures, vendetta spears as well as an important painting by Cassidy Tjapaltjarri Possum (Clifford Possum’s brother) as “an ethnographic study of artefacts from Arnhem Land and the Tiwi lslands.”  She added:  “they are worth further study for the intricate ochre painting and etchings sharing ancient narratives and sacred iconography.”

Bay Gallery Home is in Australia!

Story Bridge lit up to celebrate the Olympics in Paris. Commentated at the end by my Mother and Nic who both help with the gallery as a driver and all round assistant respectively!

Over the next month we will be attending the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair and visiting artists we represent from the Northern Territory.

While we work our way through the desert we hope to meet many artists, some of whom we already represent but haven’t met yet, including Susie Ngwarraye Ross, her daughter Pammy Kemmare Foster and Susie’s sister Tracey Ngwarraye Ross.

Bay Gallery Home will share photos and videos from our adventures. If you have any questions regarding the art and artists please send them through and we’ll endeavour to get them answered while our feet are deep in Australia’s red soil, or as there call it here, “red dirt”.

In other news, Steven Jupurrurla Nelson, an artist whose work absolutely blew our mind when we discovered it on a visit to Yuendumu in 2017, has been selected as a finalist for the highly prestigious Telsa NATSIAA prize. On seeing his work last year for the first time, after letting out a gasp, we knew we’d found something very special. An intriguing talent whose unrestricted colour palette is limitless. If you have bought a Steven from us you have invested in one of the most exciting artists emerging in the contemporary art movement. Bay Gallery Home has three available on our website.
