Good art is redemptive; just looking at it lights the lamp from within. When a brand meets that standard, it deserves a good long look.

Founded in 2008, Bay Gallery Home was started by former journalist, Alexandra O’Brien. She emigrated from the UK to Australia when she was four, before returning to England 20 years later. The gallery is nestled in the English Cotswolds in Gloucestershire and represents a range of artists from the communities of Australia’s Northern Territory. Featuring a breadth of works by emerging talent, as well as established artists, prices reflect that range from just over $200 to $5,000 US.

The award-winning My Country home collection, provides revenue streams for indigenous artists while expanding global awareness for their art. And oh, the art translated onto these wallpapers and fabrics is alive with flora and wild animals. Bold, beautiful abstracts drawn from Aboriginal mythology and culture explode with colors and patterns from the Australian outback, a place that stubbornly sits on my bucket list. Ms. O’Brien’s passionate approach is living proof that a visionary brand can deliver meaningful value to artists and their communities and everyone prospers. Sublime!

Daisy Brown Linen reflects the Australian Outback

Two years ago Alexandra, Bay Gallery Home owner travelled to the central desert community Daisy Kemarre hails from. Alexandra on a mission to find a painting for interior designer Tom Carey who graduated as 2014 Student of the Year from the KLC School of Design.

Tom works in Arts and Crafts, Gothic, Aesthetic and High Victorian styles. On one of his projects he was using William Morris wallpapers but as the ‘My Country’ Lilly Green invoked William Morris comparisons Alexandra thought she could source a painting he could use in his room schemes. So Daisy’s painting became a wallpaper in turn becoming a fabric.

Daisy Brown fabric can be ordered as a linen or half panama. The half panama retains the vivacity of the original work. If you want to match the wallpaper it’s best use the half panama but if you’re after a more rustic feel it works beautifully on the linen.

All ‘My Country’ fabrics will be available by the metre on our shop shortly. In the meantime you can place orders with alexandra@baygalleryhome.com or call 07776 157 066.

‘My Country’ design with origin Joycie Yellow, Betty Pink and Daisy Brown

It was a real honour to launch the new wallpaper editions to our ‘My Country’ design with origin Aboriginal interiors collection at Decorex 2018 amongst much admired brands including Timorous Beasties, Rapture & Wright and Thibaut. Bay Gallery Home delights in people coming across it for the first time and there was no shortage of enraptured people on our stand at Decorex 2018.

The artists we represent continue to explore the bountiful botanic aesthetic of the Australian outback sharing with us paintings of exquisite detail. We strive to replicate the painting as close to the original piece as possible thereby retaining the integrity of the artists original purpose when executing it.

Each roll sold funds the art centre and artists whose work we use. The wallpapers are manufactured in the UK. You can buy through our website under Interior/Wallpaper where you will find all the specifications for our coated non-woven wallpapers
